What Sahl is

Sahl is a free, personal budgeting tool. It gives you instructions, a Notion template and two iPhone Shortcuts that you install and run yourself, in your own accounts, on your own devices.

Sahl is not a bank, a financial service, or a financial, investment, tax or legal adviser. Nothing in Sahl is advice. The numbers it shows are only the numbers you enter and may be wrong. Every financial decision you make is your own.

You are responsible for your setup

You create, own and control your Notion workspace and integration, your iPhone and your Shortcuts. You are solely responsible for them, including their security, backups, costs and billing, and for keeping your Notion secret private.

Before you connect an integration or install the Shortcuts, you are responsible for reviewing what access you grant. Anything the Shortcuts do in your Notion happens at your direction.

You are responsible for making sure your use of Sahl follows the laws that apply to you.

Third-party services

Sahl depends on services I don’t own or control, including Notion, Apple (Shortcuts, Back Tap, iOS) and Vercel (hosting). Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

I am not responsible for these services: their availability, changes, pricing, outages, security incidents, data handling, or anything they do or fail to do. If a third party changes its product, Sahl may stop working without notice.

Sahl is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Apple, Notion or Vercel. Their names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners.

No warranty

Sahl is provided “as is” and “as available”, free of charge, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. This includes, without limitation, any warranty of accuracy, reliability, availability, security, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

I do not promise that Sahl will be error-free, uninterrupted or secure, that calculations or balances will be correct, or that your data will not be lost, changed or exposed.

You use Sahl entirely at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, I will not be liable to you or anyone else for any loss or damage of any kind arising from or related to Sahl or these terms. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, and loss of money, savings, profits, data, time or goodwill, overspending, missed payments, unauthorized access to your accounts, and charges from any third party. This applies whatever the legal theory (contract, negligence, strict liability or otherwise), even if I was told such loss was possible.

Because Sahl is free, if any liability is found despite the above, my total liability for all claims together is limited to zero (0) US dollars, or the lowest amount permitted by law.

Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold me harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Sahl, your Notion workspace, your use of any third-party service, your data, or your breach of these terms.

Changes and ending

I may change, suspend or stop Sahl, or change these terms, at any time and without notice. The date at the top shows when these terms last changed. If you keep using Sahl after a change, you accept the new terms.

You can stop using Sahl at any time by deleting the Shortcuts, removing the Sahl integration from Notion and, if you wish, deleting your Sahl Budget page.

General

If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies, and the unenforceable part is limited only as much as needed. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and me about Sahl. If I don’t enforce a right, that doesn’t waive it.

Some places don’t allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits. In those places, the exclusions and limits apply to the fullest extent the law allows.
